How Much Does a Personal Stylist in Auckland Cost?

Johanna-May Manks seated on a bench wearing a white dress and silver shoes.

Working with me as your personal stylist in Auckland starts at NZD $230 for virtual colour analysis, with in-person colour analysis at NZD $330. A 2.5-hour wardrobe audit or personal shopping session is NZD $375, while my styling packages range from NZD $697 to NZD $1,747. The right starting point depends on what you want help with, not on choosing the biggest package.

Quick answer: My individual styling services cost NZD $230 to NZD $375, and my packages cost NZD $697 to NZD $1,747. You can start with colour, your existing wardrobe or guided shopping. These are my own advertised prices, including GST, rather than an average for every Auckland stylist.

I'm Johanna-May Manks, based in Freemans Bay and named one of Auckland's Top 5 Personal Stylists by Top Reviews New Zealand. My approach is encouraging and practical: helping you make choices that feel like you, without making your wardrobe another thing to worry about.

What does a personal stylist in Auckland charge for individual services?

My individual services are priced separately, so you can choose the part of your wardrobe journey that needs attention first.

Service Price, NZD incl. GST What my website lists
Virtual colour analysis $230 Colour analysis with a digital colour swatch
In-person colour analysis $330 Colour analysis, skincare consultation and makeup application
Wardrobe audit $375 2.5 hours; pricing based on central Auckland
Personal shopping $375 2.5 hours of personal shopping

A colour session and a wardrobe audit answer different questions. If you keep wondering which shades suit you, colour analysis may be a useful starting point. If you like many of your clothes but struggle to put them together, working with your wardrobe may be more relevant.

Think about the navy blazer you bought for interviews and rarely wear now. Before adding another jacket, it can be worth considering how that piece fits your current life and what you already own to wear with it. The starting point does not have to be a shopping bag.

You can find the current details on my personal stylist in Auckland services page. Prices in this guide were checked on 6 November 2026; please check that page before booking.

What do my personal styling packages include?

My packages combine several services, with different starting points and levels of follow-through.

The Vermouth Package: NZD $697

Vermouth brings together colour analysis and makeup with 2.5 hours of wardrobe planning. It is a starting point if you would like more clarity about your colours and how to make your existing wardrobe work for your personal and professional life.

The package also lists a digital swatch, makeup bag refresh, a 20-minute Zoom follow-up and 10% off my exclusive product range. It is spread across two sessions over two weeks and is based on central Auckland.

Vermouth does not list a personal shopping session among its inclusions. If shopping is your main priority, consider the standalone service or a package that includes it.

The Pinot Package: NZD $997

Pinot connects wardrobe planning with shopping and bringing your purchases into everyday use. It includes:

  • Wardrobe planning: 2.5 hours, creating outfits from what you own and identifying missing essentials.
  • Personal shopping: 2.5 hours of guided shopping.
  • Wardrobe integration: two hours at home, combining new purchases with your existing clothes.

It also lists a 20-minute Zoom follow-up, text support throughout the package and 10% off exclusive products. The advertised delivery is over two sessions within one month, based on central Auckland.

This may suit you if you want help both choosing new pieces and understanding what to wear them with afterwards. A lovely new pair of trousers is more useful when you can see how it works with the tops, shoes and layers you already have.

The Champagne Makeover: NZD $1,747

Champagne includes colour analysis and makeup, a personalised style file, 2.5 hours of wardrobe planning, three hours of personal shopping and two hours of wardrobe integration.

The listed extras are two Zoom calls, text follow-ups, a makeup bag refresh, lunch on shopping day and 10% off exclusive products. The experience can take place over a month or be adapted to your schedule.

It is the most comprehensive of my three packages. That does not mean it is the right answer for everyone. If you only want to understand your colours, there is no need to choose several services when one will answer your question.

Which service should you start with?

Start with the decision that feels hardest right now: choosing colours, making outfits from your wardrobe or buying the pieces you need.

These prompts can help you narrow it down:

  • “I don't know which colours suit me.” Consider colour analysis, or Vermouth if you also want wardrobe planning.
  • “I have clothes I like but can't make outfits.” Consider a wardrobe audit as a focused starting point.
  • “I know I need some new pieces, but shopping feels overwhelming.” Consider personal shopping.
  • “I want help before, during and after shopping.” Look at Pinot's planning, shopping and integration.
  • “I would like colour, style guidance and wardrobe support together.” Explore Champagne's full list of inclusions.

These are starting points for a conversation, not a test you have to pass. Your wardrobe might need to work for a new role, more relaxed weekends or a different balance of work and home. What matters is how you want to feel and what your clothes need to do now.

What should you check before setting your budget?

Check the service inclusions, location and any additional costs before deciding on your total budget.

The figures above are advertised service prices. Before a shopping session, ask how your clothing budget will be handled and whether any purchases or other expenses sit outside the service fee. I have not added an estimated clothing spend to this guide because your needs and preferences are individual.

Location matters too. My wardrobe audit, Vermouth and Pinot descriptions refer to central Auckland. If you live elsewhere, ask how your location affects the arrangements before booking rather than assuming the same terms apply everywhere.

When comparing stylists, compare the work included, not just the headline price. A shopping session is not the same service as planning, shopping and integration together. Session length, follow-up and the kind of guidance you want all help make the comparison clearer.

Is paying for personal styling worth it?

It may be worthwhile if you want guidance with wardrobe decisions, but you do not need a stylist simply because other people use one.

If you enjoy shopping and already feel comfortable putting outfits together, you may be happy doing it yourself. If you repeatedly buy pieces you struggle to wear, or getting dressed feels more difficult than it needs to, support could be useful.

I would not promise that a styling session will save a particular amount of money. A more useful question is what you want to take away: a clearer colour direction, more outfit ideas or help choosing pieces for your current life.

You can read experiences from my clients and more about my approach before deciding whether we feel like a good fit.
