Oh my – A new declaration – Cleavage has gone!? According to The Vogue, cleavage is no longer.
So… does this mean it’s time to ‘put ’em away’, ladies. Is the saying : “if you’ve got it flaunt it” in relation to the bust now passé?
Exposed breasts and anything that screams va va voom is no longer… well, that’s according to Vogue and what they say is in Style. This is not saying the D-cup appearance will be out for the lads, maybe they will just need to wait for viewing !
It is however saying that plunging necklines, exposed breasts and when those magnificent mounds are pushed together to display sexual empowerment, to inspire lust or even just to show off – is over, or at least, taking a well-earned break.
Maybe someone stood up and said the stereotypes of women as eye-candy and smouldering cleavages in front of our eyes is enough and we need to be a little more subtle. Part of what is causing the cleavage to go out of style, is “creepy” online comments about women’s breasts, or boobs as they are commonly referred to.
In these images we have Alicia Vikander at the Golden Globes looking radiant in her high-necked Louis Vuitton and Katy Perry also in a high neck dress with a modern spin on the prim pussybow blouse also exposing leg.
Interesting stats say that ‘The Wonderbra’ is no longer the frontrunner of department store sales lists and even the corset has had a cleavage-free makeover at Prada.
So, what will take the place of cleavage? Maybe exposed legs as seen on Katy Perry ? BUT apparently exposed shoulders, stomach or legs.
Being really honest here my thoughts are anyone that has to show most of their breasts off should be expected to be looked at/stared at and receive probably unsavoury comments, I in no way find it stylish nor attractive. I am not talking about a little bit of cleavage I’m talking about a lot of cleavage… i.e Kim Kardashian (whom by the way will have nothing to wear now). Covering up our feminine parts can be far more alluring and showing a pop of shoulder or bit of leg. I can’t quite get my head around exposed stomachs again.. not in my wardrobe nor on my watch ladies. Of course if you are working out in a nice crop and shorts/leggings or wearing your bikini this is an exception. Otherwise let’s keep this for the young.
An important read with summer coming and Christmas/work parties coming. Need help, drop me a line.
In the meanwhile let me know your thoughts on this uplifting topic !
