My new Fashion find, I’d love to share it with you
Normally I take a trip down to Dunedin for the ID Dunedin Fashion Week but this year I took a break. Gratefully my Mum still went down and being the Fashion Magpie and great chatterbox that she is she met Queenstown Designer Claire Brinsley from claire bloom. As all Mothers do she sold my praises to Claire and Claire’s praises to me. Being South Islanders ourselves we have a special affiliation with the entirety of what the South Island has to offer.
Claire and I made our own connections and discussed how we could collaborate with each other. As most of you know Style is one thing but Style with Personality can sometimes be hard to find. This I found in Claire’s beautiful garments and it was obvious that she creates from her heart and uses beautiful fabrics and detail that speak “uniqueness”.
I am absolutely delighted to say that I now stock a range of claire bloom and I am open to appointments to see the beautiful garments she creates. I will not be showing these on my website, they will be in my Studio and hopefully at special Events.
Let me share with you some highlights of Claire and her background ;
claire bloom is a lovingly-crafted fashion label created with passion, offering women of all ages quality garments that exude an exclusive, effortless and timeless style.
Designer and label owner Claire Brinsley grew up in Wales in the UK, where her talented seamstress mother first taught her to sew at just 12 years old, igniting a lifelong passion for creating feminine styles with a twist.
Twenty years ago, on a backpacking trip to New Zealand, she fell in love with the country and now-husband Andy and made Queenstown her home.
In 2005, with no formal training but after more than 30 years honing design skills creating garments for herself, she decided the time was right to launch claire bloom, using a nickname coined by her father.
As stockists have proliferated around the country and her fan base has grown accordingly, she has enjoyed sharing her unique style with many fabulous women.
Designing “from the heart” and following her instincts to create beautiful feminine garments which will bring the women who wear them much joy, she takes inspiration from a variety of sources including cultures, countries, books, films, the Central Otago environment and life experiences.
claire bloom garments are designed from the tranquillity of her rural workroom in the countryside based just 15 minutes’ drive from Queenstown.
It includes a ‘style room’ for private appointments and as well as the latest collection features a range of vintage claire bloom garments on sale and a team on hand to offer styling tips.
“It’s the perfect place for women to relax and enjoy a true fashion experience,” says Claire.
